SNCB class BB29, Belgium


This was a batch of 20 built in 1949 by Baume & Marpent - ACEC for the country's 3 kV DC system. They were originally designated type 101 and were the first series of electric locomotive put into service in Belgium. They were derived from the BB 300 that the Compagnie du Chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans in France built:

 Type: Bo-Bo; Output 2,000 hp (continuous rating); Length 12.89 metres; Service weight: 81.5 tonnes; Maximum speed: 100 km/h. Final withdrawal was in 1984. Two are preserved.
