Rhätische Bahn train in autumn, Switzerland

Probably how the Graubünden landscape looks right now, with gold-yellow trees.  The reproduction standard of this postcard doesn't really do it justice.

The loco here is a Ge 4/4, i.e. Bo-Bo type, number 608, seen near Madulain.  Because of modernisation in the late 1980s these are older than they may look, dating from 1947 and 1953. Only 2 seem to be still in service.

a train led by 601 as it looked originally, circa 1980. (wikimedia)
