the Tegernsee-Bahn railway, Germany

TAG 7 (Lou Gruber)

This has been a 12.4 km long standard gauge railway line between Schaftlach and Tegernsee (Tegern Lake) in Bavaria operating since 1902. The photos show TAG 7 (Tegernsee-Bahn AG number 7 although the initials also translate as 'Day 7'), a superheated 2-8-2 steamer built in 1936 by Krauss Maffei and today owned by the Bayerische Localbahnverein or Bavarian local train association. It was the last and most powerful local railway locomotive constructed in Bavaria.
