A postcard view of the crossing from the Italian side in the 1950s and the same scene now viewed from the Swiss side. In the top view the metre-gauge Swiss Rhatische Bahn railway line, out of sight to the left, runs to nearby Tirano to its own station in Italian territory. The (standard gauge) FS station is separate. The border check for train passengers used to be done at Tirano but they don't seem to bother now.
