'Wahine' (1966), art

Shown arriving early morning at Wellington from Lyttelton, circa 1967. A commissioned oil painting of Wallace Trickett, 2016.

On 10 April 1968, the Wahine became NZ's best-known shipwreck. For lots of info and photos, see the books New Zealand Maritime Images: the golden years and Strait Crossing: the ferries of Cook Strait through time.
