Although the X class 4-8-2's were built for the completion of the NIMT at the end of 1908, the regrowth of the vegetation in this pic indicates that it was about 10 years later.  The loco is pulling an impressive number of passenger cars.  For lots more, see the book New Zealand Railway Memorabilia.
