'In Mönchengladbach [Germany] on Monday the police heard an unusual excuse as they caught a 21-year-old doing 116 km/h in a 50 km/h zone: "I've washed the car and wanted to dry it."

'As the police advised, the "drying driving" cost the young man at least 480 Euros [$US 542].  Additionally a driving ban of three months and two points await him in Flensburg.'
