Wellington bookstore advert 80 years ago

In the days before anyone knew what a TV was, let alone a smart phone.  Both Ferguson & Osborn and the building they occupied have long gone.

A certain similarity to today's interests is evident, however, in The Science of Eating and Man the Unknown.  A book each about palmistry and numerology and, one assumes, NZ history in So they Began.  Passport to Hell could be about WW1 and The Fool hath Said could apply to any one of quite a number of people.

To assist price comparison, 9/6 in 1935 would be $53 today, before the addition of Bill English's 15% GST (taking it to $61) while 16/- would be $90 today ($103 with Bill English's Grab Snatch and Take).

Postage of 6d in 1935 would be $2.80 today.
