'la France en train' - an elaborately produced book

Those who like our book New Zealand Railway Memorabilia will appreciate this one as it goes a step further and reproduces complete brochures, postcards, menus, vouchers, little calendars, timetables and the like which are inserted into pockets or compartments installed in almost every page.  It contains plenty of background info about the objects and a good selection of photos.  The book is hardcovered and additionally has a slipcase.  It covers the period from 1880 to 1980.  The last chapter on "récits de voyageurs" has accounts of travelers including some notable people like Emile Zola and Georges Simenon.

We envy the budget the publisher must have allocated for it, which unfortunately is just not feasible for a market the size now of that for books in NZ; but in France which still has a good network of well-run independent bookstores, and even chains like fnac are pretty good, things are different.
