The Woodstock line ran within Vermont from White River Junction to Woodstock, a distance of approximately 14 miles (23 km), and was operated from 1875 to 1933. This 163-foot (49.7 m) high bridge was rebuilt twice: the original trestle was replaced first by a wooden arch bridge, then in 1911 by one made of steel. "At one time the structure may have been the highest railroad bridge in New England."
