traffic in November 7 Square, Budapest, 1980s

The name this intersection had during the Communist era from 1945 to 1990, a reference to the Bolshevik Revolution of 7-9 November 1917 in Russia. However, as an indication that capitalism had made inroads in Hungary by this time, one detects a Coca-Cola sign at the top of the building in the center. After 1990 the name was changed back to Oktagon.

A variety of eastern bloc cars, as well as a Budapest tram and articulated buses (harmonica buses) are in view.
