Springfield steam, winter 1965

A rather grubby Kb 968 stands beside station buildings that hadn't seen any maintenance for some time.  The following year the new Springfield station (replacing the previous which caught fire in 1963) was opened.  After steam ended three years later, Kb 968 was preserved, the only one of the six Kb class 4-8-4 type which was. A pic by one of our customers, John Cooke, who passed away last year.
