Micheline railcar on rubber tires, 1931

It states that this ran from Paris to Deauville on 10 September 1931 at an average speed of 107 km/h (66 mph) in 2 hours 3 minutes, beating the de luxe steam express by 32 minutes.  The rubber tires (tyres) made things smoother and provided faster acceleration ability but didn't last as long as steel tires.  The Paris Métro cars still use them.
