Sunday at Manhattan Beach, LA

The two of us in LA decided to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon before the Labor Day Monday (in the US) at Manhattan Beach.  Apart from beach culture, particularly volleyball, there are regular aircraft to be seen: Coast Guard helicopters and light aircraft towing advertising banners - this one says "10 comics tonite at Comedy & Magic Club."  Being not far south of LAX there are regular commercial aircraft take-offs in the background too, although those into that should head to El Segundo beach, the next one up.

Naturally we looked for bookshops and saw this sign in the window of pages - promoting independent bookstores: "Sit Stay Read" - literally sit in an armchair and browse a book.  In world dominated by portable electronic devices, old fashioned pleasures need to be presented to people.
