early TGV turbotrain experiment, France

Seen in the station of Morcenx. The TGV 001 was put in service in 1972, built by Alsthom and conceived in conjunction with the SNCF to explore speeds between 250 et 300 km/h with the view of creating a network of high speed lines.  Eventually electric traction was opted for, although orange and white was the TGV colour scheme for some years.
