'Boniface' on the Amazon
Booth Line operated services from the UK to South America for decades through the 20th century. Their ships even went 1,000 miles up the Amazon River to ports.
Here in the twilight years of the 1980s, the cargo vessel Boniface is shown on the Amazon at sunset awaiting a berth up river.
A painting commissioned of Wallace Trickett which had an interesting journey in itself. The client was the Chief Engineer on the ship for several years. Firstly it went to China where he was working and living, then to the UK where his home was, it now hangs in Belem on the Amazon where he now resides.
