Richard Steinheimer - pioneer of railway photography as an art form

Last month Richard Steinheimer died at the age age of 81.  He had been an influential American railway photographer since the 1940s, primarily in black and white, and one of the books in our library is his A Passion for Trains: The Railroad Photography of Richard Steinheimer.  He authored other books too. We're not sure if this title is still in print, but we recommend it to those into dramatic photography generally, not just of trains.  Here is a sample of one of his pictures of a Southern Pacific "Cab Forward" steam locomotive at night.

Somehow I've never come across him before, will have to get hold of a copy - those pics are splendid. Incidentally the book seems reasonably easy to source - see Abebooks for example.
