The Ilyushin Il-18 was a Soviet-designed, four-engine turboprop airliner and transport aircraft that first flew in 1957 and was a replacement for older piston-engine designs. It served as a major workhorse for Soviet domestic and international air travel, as well as in military roles. It was superseded by the IL-62.
