This is also known today as Hinehopu's track and is situated 20 km north-east of Rotorua off what is today State Highway 30. This may be a scene on what is today SH 30 between Lakes Rotoiti and Rotoehu. The present 2.2. km walking track goes through the Lake Rotoiti Scenic Reserve and the Hinehopu Scenic Reserve, and can be accessed from either the Rotoiti or Rotoehu end.
The car on this postcard is too indistinct to identify with certainty, but seems to have a center headlight mounted on the radiator.

The date is probably pre 1910. The car might be a Humber from about 1904.
