A pair of 255 class, 4-4-0 type, of which 6 were built by
Beyer, Peacock and Company in 1882 were depicted on the cover of this book from 1982 by one of Australia's more prolific railway authors. NSW railways had the most English-looking rolling stock and infrastructure of the Australian states. Unlike in the other states the track gauge (standard gauge) was the same, too.
