Jawa motorbikes, Czech Republic

Pronounced yah-va, this business was established in Prague in 1929 after founder František Janeček bought the motorcycle division of Wanderer. In the 1960s a new plant at Tynec nad Sazavou was built.  Apart from motorbikes a few cars and mopeds have also been produced in the past.

In my motorbike days the Jawa started to appear sold through mainly Yamaha dealers in UK. They appeared a chunky and rugged machine , similar to the Urels which also had a small market in UK during the 70's. Perhaps this young lady should have applied as a UK sales assistance to boost sales!!
