With the Russian WW2 victory parades taking place next week with the Stalinobuses (see earlier post) here is a relevant publication. After the Germans had made big inroads in their invasion of the Soviet Union in the second half of 1941, photos and items were sent to Germany for an exhibition on life in Stalin's 'workers paradise'. This booklet was produced to accompany it.
It might have been accurate, although you wonder that if Hitler's aim had been to encourage Germans and Volksdeutsche to move there, such exhibitions may have been counter-productive.
The standard of Russian roads in autumn rains didn't help the Germans. |
the break of railway gauge between European standard and Russian broad gauge was another major hindrance. |
