This shows a tram or Strassenbahn in Freiburg im Breisgau, to give the city its full name, in the southwest of Germany not far from the Black Forest. In the background can be seen the landmark Martinstor or St Martins Gate tower, of which the model manufacturer Faller made an HO scale model in the early 1980s.
There are still trams operating here, some nice pics of them in winter are on this webpage.
