The Lehigh Valley Railroad at Lehighton, PA. In this view, we're looking from the area of the current D&L Trailhead in Lehighton towards the Packerton Yards. The bridge carries the Jersey Central tracks above the LVRR. This bridge was removed in the early 1980s. The freight station is on the left side of the tracks and the tower on the right. When the Valley and the Central consolidated some of their trackage in 1965, the Jersey Central track was abandoned, and a ramp was built to connect the two railroads together at the tower. Today, the track coming down that ramp from the Leigh River bridge is all that remains of active railroad in this scene. Southbound traffic on Route 209 was routed through this area in the 1980s. The older photo was taken by John W. Barriger III.
