The pre Ww2 car is a Ford Y - 1932-34. The pale green van is a Morris-Commercial J2.

The station eventually became Lambess Motors in the 1980's and although Europa fuels was part of the BP GROUP, I think from memory it may have become a Caltex station. Carterton had three stations back then, 'Smiths motors' at the south end serving Shell fuels , Lambess and Smith Hare Christenson who were Mobil ,all on the west side of SH2.

Further to my last comment I forgot about a fourth service station, McPhee motors owned by Iain McPhee but I can't recall what fuels he sold. For a small town of around 4000 having four petrol stations was quite generous back in the 80's.
