Soldier Summit. Top of the Wasatch on the D&RGW with the Utah Rly owning second main track.
In 1919 the then D&RG built an Engine Terminal at this lofty summit of 7440ft and operated it in adverse winter conditions for a period of 10 years when the facilities were retired in 1929, then re-established in Helper at the foot of the grade to the East.
There was an 8-track rectangular engineshed of 24 stalls, a 300ton 5 pocket coaling chute with an elevated 528ft long trestle approach and Wye for turning the Locomotives. In adition to the engine facility, there were 200 employee cottages, crew hotel an office/Depot aside a 10 track yard and additional 4 track car repair building.
