The Bluff Harbour tug Theresa Ward arrived in November 1900 from builders J.P. Rennoldson and Sons of South Shields, England, after a passage of 75 days, including time in Port Adelaide en route. At the time the tug was the best equipped in the country, having salvage gear, a powerful pump and a steam capstan for handling lines.
She served the port until the mid 1920s, then crossed the Tasman in 1933 to new owners James Wallace & Company in Sydney. In January 1960 she was broken up by Hines Metals, Sydney.
