the US-Canada war of 1812

A Canadian warship broadsides an American warship - probably the way some Canadians still feel...

This is a mural on the wall of Canada Place in Vancouver which has an exhibition of this war, which is celebrated in Canada, not much in America.  In fact it was an American response to the British not respecting the sovereignty of its ships which led to them deciding to attack the British by invading Canada.  The war lasted for a couple of years with mixed successes on both sides until it ended with the borders staying the same as they had been originally.
