the Trans Europ Express 'Rheinpfeil', late 1960s

A set of the all-first class red-cream TEE carriages forming the Rheinpfeil (Rhine Arrow) service is hauled by one of the E10 class variants through the Spessart in the late 1960s.  This took a bit under 8 hours to run the 777 km route between Dortmund and Munich.  It lasted only 6 years from 1965 to 1971 when it was downgraded to a first and second class InterCity service.
