train and coach time at Arthur's Pass, 1918

A photo used in the book The Midland Line: New Zealand's trans-alpine railway (now out of print) shows the celebrations for completion of the drilling of the Otira tunnel at Arthur's Pass; here the arrival of the West Coast party in their stagecoaches from Otira, August 1918.  It was to be another 5 years, however, before trains would traverse between Arthur's Pass and Otira.  One notes that there are both Tea Rooms and Refreshment Rooms.
