'quart sized power on a pint sized railway'


That was how NZR's K series steam locos were described when they appeared in the 1930s - they looked really big on narrow gauge track.  The same can be said about these steamers on Germany's metre-gauge Harzquerbahn, which as the name suggests, traverses the Harz mountains - a post about it soon.  This view is from DDR days and shows two trains crossing at the Niedersachswerfen-Ost station.
