early days of the Chemin de Fer Montreux-Glion, Switzerland

The Chemin de fer Montreux–Glion (MGl) was opened in 1909, and at its upper terminus made an end-on junction with the Chemin de fer Glion-Rochers-de-Naye (see earlier post) and, across its platform, with the Chemin de fer funiculaire Territet-Glion.

Nowadays, the line operates on 850 Volts direct current from overhead. The track gauge is 800 mm and the line is totally a cog wheel (rack and pinion) Abt system. The pic shows one of the three original locomotives.
