explorer Juan Cabrillo's ship 'San Salvador' in San Diego Bay, 1542

 

An artist's depiction of what the original San Salvador might have looked like on its visit to San Diego Bay in 1542, a website. This is a painting in the Maritime Museum of San Diego, which announced in mid 2010 that it was intending to build a $5 million dollar full-size replica of this historically significant ship, now 65% complete. The ship’s masts will rise 80 feet (24.3 metres) above the water and will be 24 feet across and 90 feet from end to end, weighing over 200 tons. website
