Rapid transit buses favoured for Wellington - report

It states that Light Rail - the option favoured by the Wellington Mayor - would cost $940 million and would not deliver commensurate benefits compared with fast buses.

We don't think that buses are as economic compared with light rail as the report authors think (they will cost the best part of $1 million each, and require higher maintenance), but agree that economics and logistics favour buses in Wellington.  TV3 video
