Los Angeles Union Station exterior at night, circa 1940


Having shown a view of the interior, here is one of the exterior, and if it looks rather like the structures erected for the NZ Centennial exhibition, it's probably because it was built in the same year - 1939.  The style was described as California Mission (in NZ it is known as Spanish Mission, mostly seen in Hawke's Bay) and the clock tower was 135 ft (41 metres) high.
