Fiat at Invercargill

(censored picture)

A Fiat railcar seen at Invercargill (in Post Office slang referred to as 'Invergiggle') station in the 1960s.  The rather shabby station and platform were subsequently replaced and served the Southerner train from Christchurch to here until 2002.  Since then there have been no passenger trains, but with Bluff port not far to the south, it maintains an important role for freight.
