The news reports on TV on Saturday night probably led people to think that Waikanae now looks like Joplin in Missouri, USA. However, the tornado was relatively small and damage mainly affected trees on either side of the state highway/railway line plus a few farm buildings. Nevertheless it is another reminder that global climate change is real and it's not change for the better.
