centenary of the Olympic, sister ship of the Titanic

The Olympic was the first of the three Olympic class ocean liners built for the White Star Line, and sailed on her maiden voyage on 14 June 1911, 10 months before the Titanic.  As we have mentioned before, sister ships are not necessarily identical, and the Olympic was slightly smaller than her sisters, but unlike them had a long career, not being withdrawn from service until 1935.

We will do a post on the Titanic on the occasion of her centennial next April.
