Marseille - gateway from North Africa

A poster by Roger Broders (1883-1953) of the PLM - or Chemins de fer de Paris à Lyon et à la Méditerranée to give its full name - promoting Marseille and, as the company also operated railways in Algeria, the notion of travel across the Mediterranean.

In more recent decades Marseille became the gateway from North Africa in a way that right wing factions in France wish it hadn't.
