steamship 'Otarama' in Port Chalmers, Dunedin, late 1890s


This was 3808 gross register tons and built in 1890 for British owners. Launched as the Sea King, she was purchased later that year by the New Zealand Shipping Co., and renamed Otarama. The ship was sold in 1902 to the Nelson Line and renamed Highland Ghillie.  For more, see our books.
