Dutch Bo-Bo type 1100 class electric locomotive derived from the SNCF BB 8100

An example with the original flat front, 1128, here leaves Amsterdam Centraal Station with a passenger train for Köln (Cologne) in 1978. A total of 60 -- numbered 1101 to 1160 -- were built between 1950 and 1956 and handled most passenger and freight trains until the arrival of the 1600 class.

They were extensively rebuilt from 1978 to 1982. The rebuilding included a crash-absorbing nose ahead of the cab inspired by the French 'Nez Cassé' design because of an accident with 1129 in 1978.

All were finally withdrawn by 1999; 5 are preserved.
