One bound for Van Nuys and the other for Downtown L.A. "Photographer Robert T. McVay captured a fan trip with Pacific Electric no. 1036 on March 23, 1947, at this stop at Barham Boulevard at the Hollywood Freeway. Pacific Electric no. 662 [left] seems to be on regular service and is just passing through the scene."
And this picture is taken at the end of the Hollywood Freeway as it was in 1947; the cars in the distance crossing the tracks were on the freeway but they reached the end. There's a sign that says "End Freeway" along the right-hand edge of this picture but it's too small to be read unless you see the fullsize picture.
