narrow gauge coal railway, Waronui, Otago, NZ

In fact Waronui means 'big coal'. This was operated by the Bruce Railway & Coal Co. from circa 1906 and the nearest significant sized town was Milton, 9 km away on the South Island Main Trunk. Although it was a private line (in cape gauge) it seems have used only (ex)-NZR rolling stock, here an A class 0-4-0T steamer. The line was little used after two miners were killed in 1930 and it was sold for scrap in 1932.
