SJ Dm/Dm3 class 3-unit lash-up


Intended for use on heavy duty traffic on the Malmbana (iron ore railway) between Kiruna in Sweden and Narvik in Norway, 97 of this class were produced by ASEA between 1954 and 1971. In operation, 19 3-unit lash-ups (the middle one a Dm3 without driving cabs) and 20 2-unit lash-ups were created.  They operated on the 15 kV  16.7 Hz AC catenary system of Sweden and Norway (and Germany/Austria/Switzerland). Axle arrangement was 1′D+D1′ (Dm set) and 1′D+D+D1′ (Dm3 set).
