the SS 'Oronsay' liner (1924) Orient Line


Seen at Molde, Norway.  The maiden voyage of this 20,043 grt ship was on 7 February 1925, and her fate was being torpedoed by an Italian submarine off the coast of Liberia on 9 October 1942. 

Length was 659 ft (201 metres), propulsion was 2 screws powered by a steam turbine engine, enabling a maximum speed of 18 knots (33 km/h). Passenger capacity was 1,836 which may have been increased when used as a troopship.
