DSB MT class diesel-electric switcher


A total of 17 of these Bo-Bo type were built by Frichs of Denmark and entered service over 1958–1960. The original Frichs V8 diesel engines proved unreliable and the locomotives were rebuilt with Maybach-Mercedes V12 engines rated at 491 hp during 1969–1971.

The first class MT unit was retired in 1990 after a shunting accident; the remaining ones were not retired from DSB service until 1997–2000. MT 166 remained in use as a service locomotive (tjenestelokomotiv) until 2006.
