A photo taken from the Montréal Star looking across the port at Capetown, South Africa. In late 1974 two tankers owned by the Bethlehem shipping company collided at sea. The mv Ven Oil and mv Ven Pet were passing each other and it was thought a good idea to get a tad closer, but they went too far and the anchor of the Ven Pet could just be made out with binoculars embedded in the engine room visibly exposed on the Ven Oil, which thankfully did not sink. Both ships were repaired, the Ven Oil arriving a day or so after the Montreal Star in early January 1975. (Wallace Trickett pic)
