Christmas buses, Barrow in Furness, 1961 art

The buses were decorated with coloured lights in both the top and lower saloons and several had attachments over the front grill with illuminated messages on them .

This is Barrow in Furness in Lancashire (the boundary was changed in 1970 to Cumbria) circa 1961, with a Leyland Titan PD2-27/A, with Massey coachwork from Wigan, new that year in front and an older PD2 behind. They are at Coronation Gardens where the town's tree would be placed with a nativity scene. This has proved one of Wallace Trickett's most successful works to date with several F/B sites exposing it at Christmas time. Oil, 14 x 18 inches (36 x 46 cm)
