shaking all over

Just after midnight last night the north Canterbury area of NZ experienced a 7.5 magnitude earthquake which caused significant damage in that region as well as to the coastal town of Kaikoura and the lower Marlborough region.  Needless to say, roads and the railway line have taken a hammering.

The quake was strong enough to cause damage in Wellington, although mostly to contents of buildings rather than the buildings themselves, of which there was little external evidence from the news reports.  The shaking and rolling lasted for about a minute and was stronger than the earthquake in July 2013.  Our premises in Wellington weren't affected much.
