NZ motorsport legend Chris Amon dies at 73



Chris Amon is best known for winning the Le Mans 24 heures in 1966 with 360 laps in a Ford GT40 Mk.II of the Shelby American team with Bruce McLaren. Second place went to another NZer Denis Hulme with Briton Ken Miles, also of the Shelby American team and also with a Ford GT40 Mk.II.

Amon had recently been battling cancer.
